Paul Marie Félix Jacques René Arnaud de Foïard (9 September 1921 – 7 August 2005) was a French Army general, he took part in World War II, First Indochina War and Algerian War. ==Biography== At age 20, Paul enters into the French Resistance. Imprisoned, he manages to escape and joins the French Liberation Army. During the duration of the war, Paul serves at the corps of the . Assigned as an aspirant of the 3rd battalion of (R.M.L.E) on April 1, 1944, Paul participates then at the disembarking of Provence then to the offensive of the 1st Army, an offensive in which he is wounded. While leading his section (platoon), in Germany, he would receive the médaille militaire in 1945. Assigned then to the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment, Paul partakes in the Indochina campaigns where he is wounded for a second time. Made chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1947, he volunteers to serve as section (platoon) commander in the Parachute Company of the 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment in 1948. In 1952, Paul is promoted to captain and takes command of the 2nd combat company of the I/1st Foreign Regiment at Saïda, Algeria. Following his command, he is assigned to the moral service of the Foreign Legion as editor in chief of (Képi blanc ) in Sidi Bel Abbès. In 1955 and while heading the 5th combat company of the 4th Foreign Regiment, Paul is cited at the orders of the armed forces. Following, Paul rejoins metropole in 1957 at the Communal Depot of the Foreign Regiments. While attending a war school, Paul reintegrates the operations bureau of the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment from 1962 to 1963. He takes command of the foreign parachute regiment in 1965 at Bou Sfer and ensures the transfer of the regiment to Calvi, Corsica in 1967. Paul takes command of the 11th Parachute Brigade from 1975 to 1977.
